Carl Anthony Spencer Sr., age 64, of Mooresville, Indiana entered this life on October 16, 1954 He was born to Elbert “Jack” Jackson and Garnett Irene (Rogers) Spencer in Greencastle, Indiana.
Carl was a graduate of Monrovia High School in 1972. He went on to serve is country by enlisting in the United States Marines Corp on July 10, 1974 at the end of the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged on April 30, 1976 at Camp Pendleton Base in California. Carl spent many years as an Indiana Correctional Officer and also worked in a local Saw mill before he retired. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing games and most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren. Carl will be deeply missed by all but never forgotten.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rosamund “Joy” Spencer of Mooresville, Indiana; son, Carl Spencer Jr. and his wife, Penni of Avon, Indiana; daughters, Regina Stinnett of Danville, Indiana, Jessica Wallace and her husband Brad of Charolette, North Carolina, and Barbie Dobbs and her husband Jimmy of Martinsville, Indiana; mother, Garnett Irene (Rogers) Spencer; sisters, Cheryl Miller of Sarasota, Florida and Debbie Gibson and her husband Buck of Nashville, Indiana; brothers, Brian Spencer of Indianapolis, Indiana and Jeff Spencer of Indianapolis, Indiana; mother-in-law, Nancy Miller of Greenwood, Indiana; 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Elbert “Jack” Jackson Spencer and daughter, Nina Snowdon.
Carl passed away at 3:47 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Friends and family may visit from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Indiana Funeral Care – Greenwood Chapel, 2433 East Main Street, Greenwood, Indiana 46143. The Memorial Service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Ron Polly officiating. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
